Winning Rooms will be announced Saturday Night at the Red Tassel & Awards Party

Theme for the Hospitality Contest: "Roaring 20's"

Get your Grotto involved for the fun, use your imaginations to come up with a fun design. Enjoy the evening visiting other Grottoes, getting reacquainted with "old friends" while you make "new ones".

Web Site Competition

If your Grotto has a Web Site, enter it into the competition this year. It could earn extra dollars for your Grotto. Plus we will make a like from the Supreme Council's Web Site directly to your Grotto for questions and information from people in your area. Other Grottoes will enjoy seeing what your Grotto is doing and it could help create a lot of interest in your Grotto and your activities !

"Balloon Making"
It's always an enjoyable event by all who participate and watch!


    RULES:
    1 - Contest is open to either male or female clowns. Entrance restrictions
    are the same as those applying to the clown makeup category.
    2 - Balloon making contest is conducted without costume or makeup.
    3 - Contestants shall furnish their own balloons.
    4 - Each contestant shall, in a 15 minute time period, make three balloon creations:
    One DOG FIGURE, One CAT FIGURE and One figure of their own choosing.
    5 - All three entries (Dog, Cat, and optional figure) shall be Single Balloon Creations.
    6 - Balloon figures must be made at the contest meeting and their construction will be
    witnessed by a S/C Contest Committeemen. The judge will not witness their construction,
    however the contestants may witness the judging.

    FIRST PRIZE - $75.00, SECOND PRIZE - $50.00

4:00 PM - Meeting with Convention General Chairman, Ritual Committee Chairman, Parade Marshall & Contest Committee.
Hospitality Room judging will take place after the Grand Opening

THURSDAY JUNE 5th

8:00 AM - Posters due on display
Publications turned into Contest Committee for display and judging
8:30 AM - Supreme Council Session- Officers Opening- Two Grottoes judged at opening

1:30 PM - Contest Unit Registration Meeting w/Unit heads
2:00 PM - Clown Balloon Making Contest and Judging
Afternoon Judges will judge Posters & Publications

FRIDAY JUNE 6th

8:00 AM - Posters & Publications still on display
8:30 AM - Supreme Council Session- Balance (if any) of Officers
opening. Goodfellows judged during balloting
2:00 PM - Judging of Revelers stunts
2-4 PM - Outside judging on parade grounds: Motorized Units-
Drill Teams- Color Guards- Drum & Bugle- Pipe Bands
3:00 PM - Judging of Choral Groups, Quartets and Soloists
4:00 PM - Band Judging Note: If there is only one band in a
classification, they may be judged at another time while
performing at the Grand Monarch's pleasure.

SATURDAY June 7th

12:00 PM - Clown Costume & Make up Judging
2:00 PM - Parade
9:00 PM - Awards at Red Tassel Party

CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS

Get your entry form in early so you will have plenty of time to review them.

1. Penalty points will be assessed this year for late contest registration. All registration forms must be received in the Supreme Council Office by close of business on May 8, 2008. Any individual contestant or unit whose registration form is received after the above date will have the penalty points deducted from their contest score at the convention.

2. The Contest Committee will continue the Web Page Contest for the Hot Springs Convention. The contest will be the Best Web Page by a Grotto or Association. The rules for this contest have been drafted and are available from the Supreme Council Office. It should be noted that the registration forms for the contest must be in the Supreme Council Office by May 1, 2008, so as to give the Judges time to review and judge the web sites before they leave home for the convention.
3. The Contest Committee will use the same procedure again this year in awarding the prize money and plaques that was used last year. An award certificate will be presented to the winning contestants and units at the Awards Ceremony on Saturday evening. After the Supreme Council Office personnel return home, they will prepare the checks, obtain the plaques and then send them to the winning contestants and units.

4. The Theme Hospitality Room Contest will be held again this year on Wednesday night, June 4, 2008, following the Grand Opening. This year's theme will be "The Roaring 20's" The rules for this contest are available from the Supreme Council Office. It should be noted that the registration forms for this contest must be in the Supreme Council Office by May 8, 2008.

5. The Clown Contest will have an additional requirement at the 118th Session in Hot Springs, Arkansas. During the clown judging on Saturday the clowns will be required to do a 5 minute act showing their clowning skills. This will be in addition to the judging of their make up and dress.


AWARDS

Cash prizes will be awarded for contest competition only. Trophies will be awarded for the parade/review. (Clown units will be judged during the parade). Most of the contest categories also require appearance in the parade (as shown on entry form) to complete eligibility for cash contest prizes. Most of the cash prizes have been increased this year.

ENTRY FORMS

File the "CONTEST & PARADE ENTRY FORM" with the Supreme Council Office PRIOR TO May 15, 2008 except the Web Site competition deadline is May 1, 2008. A late filing deduction is assessed after that date. You will be sent a copy of the rules governing your category and any form you need to bring to convention.
